The National Museum of China, abbreviated as the National Museum, is a directly affiliated institution of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It is located on the east side of Tiananmen Square and the south side of East Chang ‘an Avenue in the center of Beijing, facing the Great Hall of the People from east to west. It is the highest historical, cultural and artistic hall representing the state for collecting, researching, displaying and interpreting representative physical evidence of Chinese culture. It bears the important mission of preserving the collective memory of the nation, inheriting the cultural genes of the country and promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations. It is also the national cultural living room.
